Getting to Suèvres could not be easier. We can give you all the advice you need, once you have selected your means of travel.- You can take the train
- You can fly to the nearby airport of Tours and take the train directly to Mer.
- You can drive: take a ferry or EuroTunnel and then drive down to Suèvres.
Train:
The easiest way is to travel to Paris is by Eurostar or plane to Charles
de Gaulle Airport. Cross Paris by metro and take the train from the Gare d'Austerlitz
to Mer which is the nearest town to Sučvres. We will send you a metro ticket
and provide full details of how to cross Paris by tube, plus times of trains
and we will meet you by car at Mer station, a ten minute drive from Suèvres.
The cheapest fares (know as 'Apex') need to be booked well in advance. Over
60s and under 26s have generous reductions on French Rail (though not on Eurostar)
and you can book your through journey through European Rail Travel Ltd, 0207
387 0444 or Rail Europe Travel Centre, 08705 848 848.
Fly:
The most economical flights are by Ryanair from Stansted to Paris, and even
better, from Stansted to Tours, an easy journey avoiding Paris. It is a short
train ride from Tours to Mer. Bargains may also sometimes be found by booking
early.

Drive:
The shortest journeys to Sučvres are from:
- Speedferries from Dover to Boulogne (the cheapest option) Speedferries
- Caen Brittany ferries (Tel: 08705 360 360)
- Dieppe Hoverspeed Fast Ferries (Tel: 08705 240241)
The channel tunnel (Eurotunnel 01303 2886609) takes you to Boulogne. There is a fast motorway from Calais and the journey time is about 5 hours, unless you stop off at Chartres to do some sightseeing (see above).
Suèvres (although it's not actually shown on this map) is closer to Mer than to Blois, on the red road just north of the Loire.
