Travel options

Immersion France is located in Suèvres, a small village near the town of Mer Loir et Cher, which has the nearest railway station to us. (See the map on the right).

Getting to Suèvres could not be easier. We can give you all the advice you need, once you have selected your means of travel.

Train: The easiest way to travel to Paris Gare du Nord is by Eurostar - which now leaves London from St Pancras.

Picture of Paris transport plans - no linkWe recommend you pick up one of these free guides from any large Metro or Railway station - it includes RER, Metro, and Bus routes.

Cross Paris to Gare d'Austerlitz by Metro (Line 5 from Gare du Nord direction Place d'Italie) or to avoid stairs with your luggage take bus number 65 from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon, then it's a short walk across the Pont Charles de Gaulle (right) to Gare d'Austerlitz.

Take the train from Gare d'Austerlitz to Mer Loir et Cher which is the nearest town to Suèvres. Please try to arrive at Mer between 3 and 6 pm so that we can pick you up.

The cheapest fares (known as 'Apex') need to be booked well in advance. Over 60s and under 26s have generous reductions on French Rail (though not on Eurostar) and you can book your through journey through European Rail Travel Ltd, 020 7387 0444 or Rail Europe Travel Centre, 08705 848 848.

Fly: If you fly into Aéroport Charles de Gaulle you can take the RER (Line B) either to St Michel Notre-Dame and change onto the south-easterly RER Line C to Gare d'Austerlitz, or get off the RER (Line B) at the Gare du Nord and change onto the Metro (Line 5 from Gare du Nord direction Place d'Italie).

To avoid the stairs on the Metro you can take the 65 bus from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon, then it's a short walk over the Pont de Charles de Gaulle to Gare d'Austerlitz and the train to Mer Loir et Cher. You can buy your ticket on the bus if you haven't got one, and metro and bus tickets are inter-changeable and you can buy multiple tickets for use later.

The most economical flights are by Ryanair from Stansted to Paris, and even better, from Stansted to Tours, an easy journey avoiding Paris. It is a short train ride from Tours to Mer Loir et Cher.

Please try to arrive at Mer between 3 and 6 pm so that we can pick you up.
