As and when we have any!

News

Last year, Immersion France moved from the école paroissiale to new premises adjoining the village school, where we enjoyed spacious classrooms, large grounds and our own kitchen, useful for making tea and coffee during private study sessions.

We continued to enjoy picnics at Blois and Chambord, and the dîner communal at Le Bergerie proved popular, as did our final evenings with Dédé, our very own accordionist.

Club de Lecture

We shall maintain club de lecture, introduced in 2010.

Many of you have enjoyed the snippets of French literature we’ve studied in class and have expressed a desire to read more.  For those of you who are interested, we’ll be organising a club de lecture this year.

You will have the opportunity to read the chosen book before the course starts (or during the week if you need help) and then discuss it with your fellow-students and teachers.  Possible books are Maupassant’s Quinze contes, Philippe Grimbert’s  Un Secret, Alain Fournier’s Le Grand Meaulnes -  but let us have your requests and suggestions !

Accommodation

We do have a option for students who might not want to stay with a family - although we do recommend that they do!

See the Accommodation page for more information.

Nick and Jane McAdoo welcome you

Our Immersion France 6-day residential courses, commencing on Saturdays, offer intensive immersion in the French language.

Students are accommodated with families well known to us, in the village.

We usually have around 12 students each week, split into two groups according to ability for most of the teaching.

Our tutors come from the Open University, Birkbeck College, or are native French speakers.

We can offer exam preparation with particular help for students facing oral exams.

Specialist group weeks can be arranged.

The price includes all accommodation, meals, teaching, materials, but not travel.
